Description: The highly automated nature of general contact in Abaqus/Standard can significantly reduce model set-up time but usually causes some lag in analysis run time compared with a traditional contact pair approach. Efficiency improvements in batch preprocessing and within Newton iterations have narrowed the performance gap. Contact pairs using the finite-sliding, surface-to-surface contact formulation also benefit from some of the improvements.
