Releases of Abaqus prior to Abaqus 6.8 used a directory structure different than the one currently being used. If the installation procedure detects an existing installation of Abaqus 6.7 or earlier, the new release of Abaqus will be installed using the old directory structure.

In the old directory structure, the SIMULIA parent directory does not exist. The License and Documentation directories discussed above are both installed in the Abaqus parent directory. The default location for the Abaqus parent directory in the old structure is C:\Abaqus on Windows platforms and the current working directory at the time of the installation on UNIX and Linux platforms.

If you are working with an old directory structure, the simulia_dir and abaqus_dir names used in the path listings throughout this manual should be considered equivalent; both names refer to the Abaqus parent installation directory in the old structure. The remaining subdirectories in the path listings have not changed.
