B.2 The Abaqus parent directory

All files associated with an Abaqus product installation are stored in the Abaqus parent directory. It is recommended that the Abaqus parent directory be located within the SIMULIA parent directory, and the suggested path is SIMULIA/Abaqus (see Figure B–1). Throughout this manual, the Abaqus parent directory is referred to as abaqus_dir. The following directories will be created under abaqus_dir, depending on which of the installation options are chosen:

Commands

Directory containing links (UNIX) to, or batch files (Windows) for, the driver commands for each release.

release

 ConfigurationDirectory containing configuration files.
execDirectory containing executables and command procedures.
ExternalDirectory containing third-party executables and libraries.
PythonDirectory containing the Python interpreter and modules.
includeDirectory containing header files used for building postprocessing programs with the abaqus make utility.

An illustration of the Abaqus parent directory structure is shown in Figure B–2.
